Polygon City
Using Unreal Engine and prebuilt assets, I created a sunken desert oasis environment complete with buried ancient ruins.
"The city of Suburbia was once a bustling thriving metropolis overflowing with wealth and opportunity. Companies would flock to Suburbia because of the younger population and the city's ideal location. Main street especially was a bustling area with both industry and residential areas side by side. As the city expanded a lot of the houses there became condos with a few houses still standing. One stubborn resident still has their house standing in between the office buildings. They refused to give up the land so it becomes a sort of tourist attraction to visitors because of its stark contrast with the industrial area. After some time, however, the city slowly started becoming less cared for. The decline of new business and lack of city funding caused the city to lose its shine. The backyards and alleys became filled with trash and the city itself fell into a state of disrepair. The city now is a less shiny version of itself, while the main street is still bustling with businesses it has severely decreased and is a shadow of its former self."
Greyboxing
To figure out how I wanted the environment to be organized, I greyboxed with the landscape tool and basic shapes. This gave me a good idea of how the environment would look with foliage and other props. Before adding the textures and final props, i made changes the landscape to add more space for the tents and added the cacti and rocks surrounding the crater to emphasize the desert environment even more.

These are all the extra renders to show off the different layers of the environment. It also contains the setup for the landscape material and the reference images i used to build the environment.
